WV Trees - Identification

Want to test your tree knowledge?  I found a leaf quiz and thought I would share the link.  See how many you know

I have found a few pages to use in identifying trees.  One of them comes from the West Virginia forestry web site.

http://www.wvforestry.com/Tree%20ID.pdf  - this link shows pictures of leaves and the trunks of trees to help with identification.

http://4-hyd.ext.wvu.edu/r/download/43053%20 - this link is a pdf of a 4-H project to identifying trees.  There is a dicotomus key in it that could be helpful in class as well.

http://www.wvu.edu/~agexten/wildlife/810.pdf  - this link is a pdf of "Select Trees and Shrubs of WV".

  2. Nice photo of a dogwood flower. Additional images of leaves and bark would also help. Some descriptive text with information on identification, uses, habitat and other useful information will make an excellent guide for your students.
